PERSONAL EDITORIAL: I firmly believe that all qualified, non-criminal folk who can pass the required training and background checks should be allowed to carry a handgun to protect themselves. But before you rush out and buy a gun, consider the most important question. Could you actually use it in self-defense? If this is a really tough question, I would think twice about even owning a gun. Because that moments hesitation could get you and your family killed by your own weapon. Take a few classes and evaluate your own feelings well before buying a gun. Also consider such factors as children in the house. Personally, I have owned a handgun since literally my 21'st birthday, and will always have one. I worked armed and unarmed private security for over eight years in my twenties and would have no qualms against defending myself or my husband.
